Musical Pairing: Bordeaux In My Pirough (Chuck Berry)

Story

I designed this drink for my close friend. We have known each other for much of our lives. We both like gin and Chuck Berry. Years of friendship later and we find out we both like Chambord too! Well, I set out to make a highball drink for us to share.

Now, gin in Chambord is already a cocktail “Raspberry Martini”. So I had to find something to differentiate it. I went back to the liquor cabinet at the grocery store where I bought the Chambord. I saw a classic art deco bottle, St. Germain? What’s that? A light aromatic elderberry liqueur from France that brings imagery of ancient castles and monks in a timeless bottle? I think we have a winner!

All that was left was the artwork. I wanted it to look like a page out of the classic American mixology book “Old Mr. Boston”. So, I found a woodcut style drawing of a man in a pirough on a bayou. Typeset it in serif with italics, and added a blue color text similar to the two tone books of the 50s-80s.
